Found Matcha

About Found Matcha

We are building the place where matcha is understood before it is bought.

Mission

Matcha is one of the most information-rich agricultural products in the world and one of the most poorly labelled. A single tin can be the product of a specific field, a named cultivar, weeks of shading, a hand harvest, a stone mill, and a milling date, and all of that is usually replaced by the word “ceremonial.”

Found Matcha exists to preserve matcha terroir by keeping that information attached to the tea, from field to foam. We do this with an educational marketplace where transparent cultivar and production information is the default, and with structured feedback that gives producers and brands real signal about what drinkers taste.

We are a true marketplace. Farms, brands big and small, importers and retailers all sell here, and single-cultivar teas and blends sit side by side. We talk about matcha the way the world already talks about wine (terroir, vintage, cultivar) and chocolate (single origin and blend as two crafts, each with a profile). Our goal is to open up every conversation about matcha, not to rank one kind of tea above another.

What we are building

Matcha Match

Matcha Match is our proprietary web-based application and marketplace, available at foundmatcha.app. For companies, it is a way to reach customers with honest product records: producer, region, cultivar, harvest and lot, each claim tagged by its source. For customers, it is a way to learn about matcha, log what they prepare and taste, and give structured feedback that reaches the people who made it. Its job is simple: help you find your matcha.

Canonical matcha records

Every listing on our platform is tied to a canonical record of the tea: producer or farm, brand, product, harvest, lot, and pack. We distinguish producer-provided facts, seller-provided facts, our own editorial review, third-party certification, and community observation. A rating from a drinker is never displayed as a verified fact about the product.

Education that follows curiosity

Tap a cultivar name and learn what it is. Tap a region and see who grows there. Learning is built into the product page, the tasting log and the marketplace, not walled off in a separate library.
